About the Author
Patrick Casement has been a psychoanalyst and therapist in full-time private practice for many years, having previously been a social worker. He is author of On Learning from the Patient and Further Learning from the Patient. His last book Learning from Our Mistakes received a Gradiva award for its contribution to psychoanalysis.

A Rich and touching autobiography of a gifted analyst

I purchased Casement's autobiography "Learning from Life" on the strength of his prior works, "Learning from our Mistakes", etc. This is a wonderfully rich, modest and very personal recitation of vignettes, both before he attended college to his life as a probation officer, agency counsellor and...psychoanalyst. It is touching, inspiring, and difficult to put down. I found it engrossing and full of lessons for my own life. It is well worth your dollar, your time, your thoughts...you'll be lost in personal reverie stimulated by his experiences, talking about and recommending this to your associates, your students, your loved ones. It will engross you and inspire you.
